Enlisted in to Company E of the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on 1862-Aug-5 at age 24 as Private. He was killed at the Battle of Perryville on 1862-Oct-8. He is interred at Camp Nelson, Kentucky. [1]

Since I wrote the other letter, the Battery boys think that Pugsley was not killed, and that we made a mistake and did not recognize him. The other five we are sure of, viz., Wm. Hale, Charley Hitchcock, Geo. St. John, John Whiting and David Osborn. I helped dig their graves and gather them together, but was called away to the regiment before they found Pugsley. Dwight Elder says he was sure it was him, but the Battery boys think he is alive, although they have not heard from him since the fight. ... [2]
